Jakub will be playing a bulk of DGPT and European Tour Events in 2023

Latitude 64° is excited to announce a promotion and extension to Team Latitude 64° for 2023. Jakub Semerád was a Tour Team member in 2022. After a stellar 2022 season and an increased focus on competition in 2023, we offered Jakub a promotion to the Pro Team.

We caught up with Jakub to discuss his promotion, and needless to say, he was excited. First, he said, “The first is that it [Latitude 64°] is a European brand, which for me as a European definitely plays a big role.” However, it’s not just our European base that has Jakub excited. He continued, “another reason is that I’ve been playing with trilogy discs almost since the beginning of my disc golf career, so about seven years, and I have to say that the Latitude 64° equipment is at the very highest level.” Besides the equipment, there’s also the people aspect that Jakub enjoys. He added, “The fact that Latitude 64° has a great team of pro players who support and help each other on the tour also plays a big part. And the last important reason is that if I need help or advice, the people at Latitude 64° are helpful and will always help me solve problems.”

On Latitude 64°’s side, it’s easy to see Jakub’s enthusiasm which we find to be super valuable in a team member. Additionally, Jakub is the highest-rated player in the Czech Republic and plans on competing on the Disc Golf Pro Tour and EuroTour in 2023. His full season will see him making two trips to the United States to earn Tour Points, with an extended Tour across Europe in the summer to earn EuroTour points.

With Jakub’s first full season on Tour, he has a few different places he is excited to compete at. He said the following about his top location, “I am most definitely looking forward to the Konopiště Open because it’s in my home country, and I’ll want to show the home crowd what I’ve got and ideally take home the trophy.” Since he is competing on both the EuroTour and in the United States, he had a US location he’s really looking forward to getting back to in 2023. For the US, Jakub said, “Definitely Worlds in the USA, because I played both courses (Brewster Ridge and Fox Run) in 2022, and I really liked them. Unfortunately, I didn’t do well on those courses in the tournament, so I have unfinished business there.” At Latitude 64°, we are excited to see what the highest-rated Czech player will do on Tour in 2023!

With the promotion to the Pro Team, Jakub also will receive a Team Series disc for the first time. With this in mind, Jakub put a lot of thought into choosing his disc. He said, “First, is that right after Ballista Pro came out, I put it in my bag and have been using it as my main driver ever since. I still think it’s the furthest flying disc I’ve ever thrown.” Then, on choosing the plastic type, Jakub noted, “the grip of the Orbit plastic is just perfect in all kinds of weather conditions.” Fans will be able to pick up Jakub’s Team Series disc at both the Latitude 64° Factory Store and at local retailers in early spring.

As we wrapped up our time with Jakub, he concluded with, “I would very much like to thank Latitude 64° for their support because with this year’s promotion, I am able to fully dedicate myself to disc golf, and my favorite activity has become my “job.” A dream come true!” We are excited to have Jakub on the Team and are looking forward to great things in 2023!
